Donald Trump is currently facing a high-profile 250 million dollar fraud trial being held in New York; the trial came to fruition from allegations of Trump University defrauding its students. Trump University, created back in 2005, allegedly promised students their money back if they weren’t satisfied with the services provided, however upon closer look it quickly became evident that there was very limited staff and resources stealing unsuspecting students’ money. Many students were left feeling scammed and the state of New York decided to open up a case against Trump, filing numerous complaints and the lawsuit was eventually ratified. Trump continually denies any allegations, citing himself and the Trump University as being completely innocent and that the case has been nothing more than a witch hunt, however, the trial continues.
The victims of the alleged fraud are seven in total, each with strikingly similar stories – duped by false promises and fancy marketing schemes created by Trump University, the victims were allegedly promised financial success and knowledge of the inner workings of the real estate industry only to find out that the university was teaching an outdated, quick money scheme. Since the filing of the lawsuit, Trump has done very little to cooperate with law enforcement and the documents they requested to help the trial; this lack of cooperation only fuels the fire behind the allegations and reinforces the claims of innocence Trump continues to make.
The criminal trial has undoubtedly attracted a great deal of attention, as it should, considering the accusations Trump is facing; the outcome of the trial could greatly impact not only his businesses but his reputation in the public spotlight. Trump has managed to slip out of criminal cases in the past, using his influence and wealth to make the situation go away, however, this case is proving to be much more difficult for him. Whether or not Trump and his university are actually innocent, we’ll have to wait and see, however, one thing’s for certain – the 250 million dollar fraud trial against Donald Trump in New York is definitely not something to ignore.
