Kachi project is a flagship project of Lake Resources NL, which has recently defined the Maiden Ore Reserve at the site. After more than a decade of exploration and drilling, Kachi has been revealed to hold a significant deposit of lithium-bearing brine, enough to support commercial production.
The Ore Reserve is estimated at 16.1 million tonnes, 6.1 Mt of contained lithium carbonate equivalent. The resource has a LCE grade of 567 ppm, which is considered to be the highest grade deposit globally. This extension from the Resource makes it the second-largest lithium brine deposit in Argentina.
Lake Resources NL has also announced the completion of a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for Kachi Project. The DFS shows average production of 87,500 t/y of lithium carbonate equivalent, bringing cash operating costs down to one of the lowest levels globally. The DFS also outlines the potential for an increase to 100,000 t/y as soon as 2024 and 130,000 t/y thereafter.
Kachi Project is an open-pit brine mining and evaporation project located within the large lithium-rich salar in Catamarca Province, Argentina. The site was chosen for its necessary elements: the presence of high-grade brines, excellent infrastructure, and a supportive local community.
Lake Resources NL is eager to move this project forward and secure the project’s place in the global lithium industry. With the Maiden Ore Reserve announced and the DFS completed, the next step is to acquire the required permits and licenses before entering into production. Once the permitting process is complete, the Kachi Project has the potential to be a major player in the global lithium industry.
