Vice President Kamala Harris made it clear in an interview this week that she and President Joe Biden are determined to get re-elected in 2024.
Harris made her statement on NBC’s “Today” show, where she spoke about her role in the Biden Administration. “I think what President Biden and I — and many of us in the administration — recognize is that the work we are doing is critically important work,” Harris said. “But it’s also short-term and long-term, and that we know that if we want to continue to have success in the future, we obviously have a lot of work to do to win re-election in 2024.”
The Vice President made it clear that her focus is on getting current projects off the ground, but she understands that Biden’s success over the next four years will be a major factor in whether or not the pair get another four together.
Harris went on to discuss what she and Biden would need in order to secure another term in the White House. “I think we know that we have to build a coalition — again — of people across the country who understand what we are trying to do and why,” she said. She also emphasized the importance of continued education and outreach on the part of the administration, which has already gone out of its way to cultivate relationships with new voters who weren’t as engaged in the 2020 election.
Harris closed her interview with a call for renewed optimism and an assurance that “the future is critical, and the future will be bright.” While Biden will have to wait until 2024 to know for sure whether or not the pair will be reelected, it’s clear that both Harris and Biden are determined to put in the ground work needed to secure a second term.
