Joe Biden’s supporters in New Hampshire have banded together to launch a write-in campaign after the former U.S. Vice President announced he will not be on the state’s November 3rd ballot. The group, Write In for Biden- NH, is led by Bedford resident, Dan Bilodeau.
“It’s about time there was a write-in campaign in New Hampshire,” said Bilodeau. “I wanted to help make sure Joe Biden could still count on New Hampshire’s votes. We have a choice this election, and I think he’s the right one.”
The Write In for Biden-NH campaign has set up in-person training sessions that will teach voters how to properly cast a write-in vote for Joe Biden. They also plan on relying heavily on grassroots efforts, including distributing yard-signs, door-to-door canvassing and social media outreach.
Biden’s decision to forgo the state’s November ballot has been largely attributed to his advisors’ polling that showed New Hampshire was leaning heavily toward the president. Supporters of the former Vice President have long suspected the President has an advantage in the state due to his long-time residency there, and his son’s frequent visits.
The campaign will have their work cut out for them, especially considering the fact New Hampshire requires voters to correctly spell the candidate’s name and fill in the box next to it. The campaign is enlisting volunteers to help get the word out, encouraging voters to make sure their ballot is cast correctly.
Although the write-in campaign appears to have uphill battle, Bilodeau hopes it will be impactful.
“New Hampshire is still an important swing state,” said Bilodeau. “We want to make sure Joe Biden’s name appears on ballots and that New Hampshire can still make a difference in this election.”
